Country Strings (Dot, Joyce, Steve, Barbara, and Shari; not pictured - Mary)

Welcome to the home page of Country Strings, an old-time string band based out of central Eastern Indiana and Western Ohio.  We specialize in a wide variety of acoustic music played on traditional instruments.  We are most at home playing for historical events, retirement centers and for those folks who appreciate acoustic traditional, old-time, Gospel, and dulcimer music.

A project that brings to us an exciting challenge is  ...

Country String's 13th Annual

Old-Time Gospel Music Retreat

The retreat will be held the weekend of

October 11 - 13, 2013

at the Golden Eagle Christian Center in Palestine, Ohio.

This retreat welcomes singers and players of popular old-time acoustic instruments such as the hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, autoharp, pennywhistle, fiddle, guitar (what have I forgotten?) to a weekend of old-time Gospel music in a non-denominational Christian setting.

In addition to music workshops centering around the instruments, there will be a wide variety of gospel music sharing sessions, Bible study, and discussion groups centered around issues pertaining to Gospel music and its presentation in our world.

Saturday night's Community Gospel Sing/Open Stage has proved to be a night for all of us to remember.

Piqua Players

Country Strings provided music for two Piqua Players' productions.  Country Strings' love of old-time Gospel music lent itself well to the May, 2003 production of "Smoke on the Mountain" and then again in October, 2004 to "Smoke's" sequel, the 'Sander's Family Christmas'.

We had a great time working on these productions and thank Brenda Vetter and the great cast of 'Smoke.'  Check out the picture below.

Thanks for stopping by our web page and we hope you enjoy your visit and that you will come back often.
